Civil rights attorney Chidi A. Eze has officially announced his candidacy for Kings County Civil Court Judge in the 4th Municipal District, which covers Brownsville, East New York, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Canarsie, Crown Heights, and East Flatbush. Early voting begins October 25 and runs through November 2, with Election Day set for November 4, 2025.

From Nigeria to Brooklyn: A Journey of Advocacy

Born in Nigeria and later making Brooklyn his home, Eze has spent more than two decades representing New Yorkers in cases involving foreclosure defense, employment discrimination, and civil rights. From his law office in Downtown Brooklyn, he has built a reputation for defending working families, homeowners, and employees facing systemic injustice.

“I am running for Kings County Civil Court Judge because my life’s work has been about standing up for fairness, justice, and the people of Brooklyn,” said Eze in his campaign launch press release. “From the day I opened my law office in Downtown Brooklyn more than 20 years ago, I’ve dedicated myself to defending homeowners against unjust foreclosures, fighting for workers facing discrimination, and protecting civil rights in our courts.”

Championing Fairness and the Foreclosure Abuse Prevention Act

Eze’s legal career includes work on more than 100 federal cases involving civil rights violations and employment discrimination. He also contributed to the Foreclosure Abuse Prevention Act, a law credited with saving thousands of New York families from losing their homes.

“I know what it means to come to Brooklyn with nothing but a dream and a determination to serve,” he said. “My commitment has always been to those who don’t have the means to fight back alone.”

A Promise of Compassion and Integrity

If elected, Eze said he plans to bring the same dedication to fairness and accessibility to the bench that has guided his career.

As judge, Eze said he will ensure “that our courts are a place where justice is not reserved for the powerful, but belongs to every Brooklyn resident.”
