Brooklyn Judge Brings Fairness and Community Focus to Supreme Court Race

Brian L. Gotlieb, Civil Court Judge in Brooklyn, has officially announced his campaign for Kings County Supreme Court. Gotlieb brings decades of legal and community experience to his bid for one of Brooklyn’s most prominent judicial seats.

From Civil Court to Supreme Court

Judge Gotlieb was elected to the Civil Court in 2022. Since then, he has built a reputation for his steady leadership and his hands-on courtroom management. He shows a deep respect for the people who appear before him.

While on the bench, Judge Gotlieb has presided over jury trials and has handled complex civil matters. He has also helped guide judicial best practices as the representative of Kings County on the citywide Civil Court Case Streamlining Committee. He also serves as co-chair of the Civil Kings Trial Committee, working to improve the efficiency and accessibility of the court system.

“I am running for Kings County Supreme Court to ensure that every person who enters the courtroom is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect,” Judge Gotlieb said in announcing his campaign. “The Supreme Court decides some of the most important and complex cases in Brooklyn, and I will bring the same preparation, compassion, and integrity that I bring to the Civil Court bench each day.”

A Lifelong Commitment to Service

Judge Gotlieb has a lengthy history of community service throughout Brooklyn, which is evident in his record outside of the courtroom. He has served on Community Board 13 and Community School Board 21, advocating for public safety, education, and affordable housing.

He also founded Shorefront Toys for Tots in honor of his late mother. The holiday charity has provided gifts to more than 50,000 children. In addition, his colleagues say his grassroots involvement embodies a hands-on approach that bridges the gap between the bench and the communities it serves.

“My mother taught me the importance of helping others and giving back,” Judge Gotlieb said. “Serving on the Supreme Court is an extension of that lesson — making sure justice is not just about the law, but about people and the communities we serve.”

As the campaign season unfolds, Gotlieb’s message of compassion, fairness, and public service underscores his belief that judges should not only interpret the law, they should also inspire trust in the system itself.
