MyHome, the Manhattan-based renovation company, recently completed a fourth floor walk-up, brownstone project at 413 West 48th Street in Midtown West. MyHome Remodeling Consultant, Eran Chelcinski and his team were tasked with creating a brand new one bedroom apartment from two previously separate units.
A New York City homeowner wished to combine two 1-bedroom apartments into one spacious two bedroom two bathroom. They chose to work with MyHome Design + Remodeling because they had success working with this top-rated NYC contractor in the past. The team was tasked with crafting a totally brand new home in every way possible. The project was a complete top-to-bottom remodel, featuring every detail possible in an interior renovation.
Eran Chelcinski and the team worked tirelessly for over a year to get approval, plan and execute this conversion. They removed two walls in the common area, framed two new bedrooms in the new apartment, as well as framing a new bathroom – wet over dry. In addition to the new spaces, electrical was installed in the all-new framing area. The apartment required upgraded plumbing for the waste and water lines for the new bathroom, and washer and dryer. Two heat pipes were also relocated in this process.
The fourth floor apartment received additional sound insulation and a vent to the roof. The crew dropped and framed a new ceiling that is supported by the original beam. New flooring was installed throughout the entire apartment along with a fresh coat of paint to finish the job. The cherry on top is a custom crafted MDF bench featured in the dining room.
There were many obstacles to overcome during the course of this renovation due to the huge scope of work to be completed. There were a total of three inspections during the construction. A unique aspect of the project was the fireproofing and soundproofing of the new apartment.
