NY State Senator Bill Perkins was victorious in gaining the City Council seat, which was vacated by Inez Dickens, who moved on to the State Assembly.
Perkins defeated 8 other candidates to get his old job back, which he held from 1998 to 2005. Perkins will represent District 9, which includes West Harlem, Morningside Heights and the Upper West Side.
